The root is said to support sufferers of enlarged prostate by reducing the urge to urinate. In addition to this use, stinging nettle may also assist with muscle and joint pain abatement and to help with urinary tract infection symptoms. Native Americans used root decoctions for dysentery, to reduce bleeding, and to relieve asthma, bronchitis, or other respiratory ailments. It was also applied externally to soothe hemorrhoids and other swollen skin tissues.
